As we move forward in 2010, it is important to note that our sites undergo regular upgrades. When it comes to most of our sites, upgrading is very simple and seamlessly integrated with near zero down time.

However when it comes to DoubleDproducts.co.nz this process is much more involved. We are currently waiting on database management software, allowing for the merging of data and schema within mySQL (A date can not be confirmed at this time. We will revisit this in due course, as we obtain relative information).

It is not important that you understand what any of that means, only the fact that until we obtain such software, said site will be off line for days as opposed to hours or minutes during such upgrades.

Updating websites like DoubleDproducts.co.nz is critical to maintaining its existence, not to mention all entered data, such as orders, user names etc, etc.

Upgrades to DoubleDproducts.co.nz will generally take place over the weekend. Upgrades will probably commence either late on Friday night or early on Saturday morning, but not every week.

As far as order processing and the Couriers are concerned, having the site off line after 5pm on Friday and back on line by Sunday night will be the least disruptive and will not affect nor lengthen the shipping time frames or notifications in any way, as we do not currently offer Saturday deliveries via our shipping agent and we presently notify of shipping status changes via PayPal.

We feel that paying a Saturday delivery charge only adds an additional fee that most would rather avoid, opting rather to place their orders ahead of time, allowing plenty of room for receiving any such Item(s) prior to them be required (as a regular shopper).

There is only about 24 hours left now until the DoubleDproducts.co.nz shopping cart goes live.

At DoubleDproducts.co.nz almost all our products are marked down 20% below the RRP.

The shipping charges are calculated on a varying basis. Please be sure to select the correct shipping option. The options are pretty straight forward. There is an option for Rural and Urban, an International and Pickup only, plus a Free Domestic shipping option for orders over $250.

As promised, the companion products link have been updated and tested. They will work correctly after we release the coming updates.

Furthermore the images displayed on the right side of DoubleDworks.co.nz have been redirected from email to the relevant area of DoubleDproducts.co.nz.

It has come to our attention that the NFS Companion Products links over at DoubleDproducts.co.nz are defaulting to our original "Catalog" therefore over the following few days this will be corrected.

These changes are only minor and will be introduced on or by the 5th of January 2010, which is when we activate the shopping cart.

It's not long until you will be able to buy our advertised Item(s) directly via the DoubleDproducts.co.nz shopping cart. The checkout uses PayPal. PayPal are a very secure, tried and tested, long standing merchant account provider.

PayPal aren't the cheapest providers however we value your custom and privacy, therefore we opt to pay more than their competitors, so you can have piece of mind during such purchases.

The Team at Double D Works Ltd decided that there was no point in activating the DoubleDproducts.co.nz shopping cart prior to Christmas day, as we were previously considering.

We believe that it is important to wait until the majority of our suppliers return to work, in order to ensure less waiting time, should we require products in excess of our current stock levels.

Over the last week or two we have been working on formulating the freighting calculations. We believe that the arrived figures should be adequate to allow on average the funds required to cover the cost of shipping, whether transporting near or far.

We will be monitoring the costs of shipping. As time goes on we may make changes to the freighting formulas, if we find on average that they are either consistently too high and or low.

Over the next week or two we will continue to test the sites settings. We will also be loading a few more banners into our code rotator.

Keep your eyes open for the shopping cart open day. It is coming very soon.

We have recently introduced a Banner Rotator to the bottom of the pages within DoubleDproducts.co.nz to bring the sites advertising potential into line with our others.

We also added Musashi Bulk Protein Bars, as they fit with our policy on quality and taste.

The next stage of DoubleDproducts.co.nz to be completed is the freight management system. We will be looking into a few options and will decide on the best way to structure it over the coming weeks.

Following the completion of the freighting system we expect to activate the shopping cart features in conjunction with our merchant account.

From that point on DoubleDproducts.co.nz will be open for business.

Passed away early Saturday 14 November 2009 at the North Shore Hospital surrounded by his loving family, aged 89 years.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Remy, children Kathy, Maxien, Ronda, Twyla and Dale, soninlaws Martin and Gary, grandchildren and partners, Craig and Kelly, Garth and Ivana, Dawson and Vanessa, Nathan and Keri, Daniel, Matthew and great grandchildren Jake, Gemma, Ebony, Harley, Joel, Codee, Amber and Malia.

Ron will remain at his home 40 Elan Pl, Whangaparaoa (in an open casket) from 4pm Sunday 15 November until 6pm Monday 16 November 2009. All are welcome to visit and support family during these times.

A service for Ron will be held at the Silverdale RSA, 43a Vipond Rd, Whangaparaoa at 10am on Tuesday 17 November. This will be followed by a social gathering in remembrance of his wonderful and exciting life.

Ron will subsequently be cremated at Schnapper Rock Cemetery with a small service attended by his family members.

A special thank you is extended from the family to all the nursing staff and caregivers who treated Ron with dignity and kindness during the last weeks and hours.

We have now updated the catalogue links throughout our sites. If you find any links that we missed updating etc - please advise "admin".

While carrying out those aliases updates we discovered a few more that require altering for various reasons. This will be carried out in the next few days, as we load a few additional products into the site.

Once DoubleDproducts.co.nz is fully operational we will update the images on the right hand side of DoubleDworks.co.nz and point them directly to the products themselves, as opposed to the email order/enquiry option at present.

The DoubleDproducts.co.nz catalogue links are currently being updated to "catalogue" from "catalog". We feel that we had better make this change throughout our sites and prior to the DoubleDproducts.co.nz cart going live.

In doing so, it is inevitable that these new page references will take some time to update and re-index with the search engines and therefore the site links here and over at DoubleDproducts.co.nz may not work over the next 24 hrs, as they are updated. Depending on when the engine, indexing may take thirty days or more. We would expect to see all search engines updated in the next four five days.

At around the same time we plan on activating the DoubleDproducts.co.nz cart features, so the site is ready for Christmas. If for any reason we are not satisfied with some aspect of the DoubleDproducts.co.nz functionality etc, we would likely postpone activation until January 2011 at the latest and kick off in the next year as early as possible.

Double D Works Ltd is happy to announce that we can now provide "Live Help" on all of our web sites. The live help system allows new and or existing customers to be merely minutes from any help they require. We hope in doing so that this creates further confidence in our organisation, as we move towards being a great provider of products and services.

As of this week we have also introduced a chat system. You may log in and use it by visiting the chat link at the bottom of each page. As time goes by we will introduce additional permanent rooms. Presently there is a "General Chat", a "Social Network" and a "Support" room.

Note that users chatting in "support;" are logged into our web site(s) live help "Support Centre" and therefore these users may not appear in the "Support" room. Users in the Support room will show as chatting in "Support".

As a member you may create and run your own public, private and or moderated room. Users that show both interest and potential may be considered for moderation purposes etc as time goes on.

This chat software is a step towards running an additional site centred around a blog system similar to social networks like FaceBook and or Twitter etc. Feel free to discuss aspects you find important in a Social Network site in the "Social Network" room and or the possibility of such being used with "admin".

You may notice that we have added a number of additional products. The remaining products will be added over the following month or so.

Google Analytics has also be added to our sites. This will help us improve our sites search engine ranking. If you haven't seen the latest site changes at either DoubleDworks.co.nz and DoubleDservices.co.nz plus EarCandlesByChoice.co.nz (which is my personal favorite), check them out if you haven't already.

We also have plans to add a banner rotator to the sites listed above and possibly one or two others. This will likely take place some time in the following month or so as well.

The attributes have been altered to enable a check box option, along with providing a better layout during checkout etc. This change also allows for an additional product reference for your convenience.

The catalogue has also been changed to provide a grid view, which at the end of the day allows you to purchase items with less required mouse clicks and in turn this will create a more efficient shopping experience.

As the launch nears, we continue to add products and tweak the site with the shopper as the main force behind it.

We introduce EarCandlesByChoice.co.nz which is the latest Double D Works Ltd site to be released. It has a functional payment gateway. You can either purchase 1, 3 or 5 pairs of ear candles directly to use or pass onto family and friends etc.

Changes have also been made to DoubleDworks.co.nz and DoubleDservices.co.nz over the last few weeks. These sites will continue to to developed as required.

Work on DoubleDproducts.co.nz is now recommencing after being put on hold. This was due to the ducting contract mentioned below running over time and requiring many additional hours and as a result this has seriously cut into development time of DoubleDproducts.co.nz. Now that the contract has concluded, time can be devoted to further development, which has been a long time coming. DoubleDproducts.co.nz is however still close to on schedule according to our scheduled target dates.

It has been about three weeks since the last DoubleDproducts.co.nz site update, as we recently exceeded our broadband transfer allowance while transitioning from Windows to Linux and our dialup connection was not suitable given the size of some files within DoubleDproducts.co.nz

This however gave us the opportunity to further improve both DoubleDworks.co.nz and GarthDryland.com where you can find out more about Ubuntu and other good free stuff.

We also managed to complete the NFS companion products. These are found near the bottom right corner of each NFS products page. The next update will cover the creation of the remaining product quantity selection attributes. This will also correct a format issue experienced while using some internet browsers.

Over the last fortnight we have been tweaking our new sites "www.DoubleDworks.co.nz and www.DoubleDservices.co.nz" before submitting them to the search engines. Should you forget our domain names, searching for us using Google (NZ) by entering either "Double D" or "Garth and Ivana" (without quotations) will result in providing you with direct access to most if not all of our sites.

All our sites now appear to be indexed correctly within Google. Other engines should also be up to date. If you came across some dead links while using a search engine, it is likely that the links will be updated shortly by Google or other search engine(s) used.

We have also reduced the size of our product images in order to speed up the load times. The images are now approximately 1/8 of the size that they were. The full image files now average 200kb. These will load within a second or two when using broadband. Once cached, load time is immediate.

We left the files on the large side so that we can re-assess the load time versus image quality. We will likely make further adjustments to the image sizes in due course. We will test said load times while we are adding the companion products to the product pages over the coming two weeks.

It became necessary to divert from the previously planned changes and instead develop two additional sites.

Introducing the new DoubleDworks.co.nz and DoubleDservices.co.nz sites, which have been created to make way for the relocation and renaming of the original Double D Works Products web site to DoubleDproducts.co.nz

This way we can provide sites that are more specific to your needs and which will assist you in finding what you require. We will start on the previously discussed changes as listed below, in due course.

This update (16th of May 2009) completes the NFS product range items. Additional security updates were also carried out as a matter of course.

The next feature to be released will be the NFS companion products. It is believed that over the next fortnight the companion products will be listed, linking together the NFS that work well together, or as an alternative in some cases. We will also be looking at our NFS product range images and working on minimising the load times, in due course.

Following the completion of the above said, we will enter our remaining products. We will start to list (in no particular order) the Weleda Baby range, Artemis Tea, Madura Green Tea, Musashi Bulk Protein Bars, along with our ear candles and any additional products that make the grade, qualifying them to be listed.

Recently the DoubleDworks Team has secured two new contracts. One in the Administration field and the other is Mechanical based. The DoubleDworks Team want to ensure the continued growth of its internet based division(s) and contracts such as these provide a means to the desired result.
